The opposition to Christianity switches gears
02.25.04 (2:35 pm)   [edit]
Well, The Passion of Jesus Christ is out, and regular people, not demagogues and politicos and "intellectuals" are seeing it. The general response to accusations about anti-Semitism is "This isn't it."

Now, rather than rail against anti-Semitism that isn't there, the concensus of the illiterati is that the movie is "too violent."

From what I've heard, it is too violent. But since when has half the world gone to such great lengths to criticize a film for being too violent?

Methinks that the subject matter itself, which is a threat to so many, is far more threatening to them than the way it is portrayed.

But as a note, this is [i]The Passion[/i], not The Story or The Life or The Teachings, of Jesus Christ.

Everybody's a critic.

Still, I find it very curious that the charges of anti-Semitism, so prominent before the movie's release, are falling by the wayside already. Does this silence the critics? No. They just think of something else to decry.

If it weren't violent, they'd complain that the film was hard to understand. If not that, then that it was too long - or too short, or too medium. Barring that, they would retreat to criticism of film angles or lighting. Anything, anything at all, as long as they can puff up their chest and be indignant about something.

The modern left is so detestable, so pathetic, that I find it hard to even talk about it.

Laws! Huh! Good God yawl! What are they good for?
02.20.04 (10:20 pm)   [edit]
(In California, absolutely nothing)

[url=http://apnews.myway.com/artic...]http://apnews.myway.com/artic...[/url]

In California, it is illegal to marry gay couples. So the mayor of San Francisco does it anyway. So my question is, why do I have to obey laws if he doesn't?

The proponents of this ridiculous display say that they can violate the law because "no one is getting hurt." An arguable assertion, but still, it totally avoids the question of whether the practice is legal. And it isn't.

A judge, Ronald Evans Quidachay, decided not to stop the practice because "conservatives had failed to prove that irreparable harm" would occur if he didn't. Um, how about the fact that what they're doing is against the law? Doesn't that enter into the equation somewhere?

Anyway, I am single, but I'd like to get the benefits of being married. So I'm going to marry my lawn. I spend enough time with the damned thing.

And I'm not hurting anybody, so... it must be ok!

Activist judges. Who needs politicians, or voters for that matter, with these assholes on the bench?

Conservatives, we need to get activist if we're ever going to enact change in this society and get rid of crap like this. So I am forming an activist organization that can respond to these radicals with protests, public awareness campaigns and political action. If you'd like to be involved, send me an e-mail at bureau203@yahoo.com. I'm sick of this crap.

Head of Academy Fears Censorship!
02.11.04 (3:30 pm)   [edit]
Oscar Tape Delay Angers Academy

Frank Pierson, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, fears that a tape delay (where a live program is delayed by several seconds, to allow time for the network to bleep forbidden words) will "introduce a form of censorship".

Where has this bonehead been?

Firstly, a "form of censorship" has been in place on television since it began. Nudity, foul language and violence have been restricted on television since day one. There is nothing new here.

Pierson wrote that "even a very brief tape delay introduces a form of censorship into a broadcast -- not direct governmental control, but it means that a network representative is in effect guessing at what a government might tolerate, which can be even worse."

Well, thanks for your concern, Mr. First Amendment, but you're a day late and a dollar short. Censorship exists in America now, and not just bleeping bad language from glitzy Hollywood productions. On campuses across America, people are routinely prohibited from voicing their opinions. Conservative protests are closed down by decree of the college administration, people who oppose the leftist agenda are shouted down, and newspapers that print ads by David Horowitz are forced to apologize for "racial insensitivity". Sometimes they're stolen and the purveyors' offices vandalized too.

Censorship exists now, and it isn't anything harmless like covering up someone's boob.

Michael Moore - as honest as any hardcore leftist
02.09.04 (3:03 pm)   [edit]
Here's an interesting site detailing the lies, half-truths and fabrications - in other words, the leftist discourse - of Michael Moore, of "Bowling for Columbine" fame.

It's interesting for a couple of reasons. The first is that it puts Moore to task for his casual relationship with the truth, and the second is that it has a box that allows you to contribute money to support the site.

I thought it was such a great idea that I got my own donation box. You can see it (and contribute, if you like) on the left. Of the page, that is.

Your rights are under attack
02.03.04 (12:02 pm)   [edit]
I am an ardent supporter of the bill of rights, and the constitution as a whole. I believe, for example, that if a group of college conservatives wants to protest Affirmative Action, they cannot constitutionally be prevented from doing so. Please note that I said they cannot constitutionally. There have been several episodes of administrations, fearing the erosion of their power or the exposure of their policies as racist, cracking down on the free speech of conservatives and breaking up their protests.

Please, don't post a response telling me this didn't happen. And please don't suggest that the suppression of legal, political speech is anything but Nazi-esque thuggery and violations of our constitutional rights. Any sentient being can see this.

At any rate, the gun control "debate" bears a resemblance to this. The left infringes on our constitutionally-protecte d rights, sytematically and intentionally depriving us of them. A good example is the ludicrous suggestion by anti-individual rights functionaries that people in America don't have the right to own guns.

Anyway, the whole topic is addressed here. If you want an honest, complete look at the issue, and some of the ridiculous twists of logic and sensibility that the left will resort to in order to take away your rights, check it out.

What's coming for the Mars rovers
02.02.04 (2:28 pm)   [edit]
They've figured out what was wrong with the first Mars rover, apparently. It seems that essentially, they forgot to empty the Recycle Bin, and as a result, too many files stayed in Flash memory for the regular memory to handle.

Maybe they should defrag it too.

Other up-coming computer missteps, from =http://online.wsj.com/article...,,SB107538450925015241-IB jfoNilaV3m5umZn6GaqeJm4,0 0.htmlThe Wall Street Journal

Feb. 2006 -- Rover's onboard memory is somehow full of OutKast MP3s and Danish pornography, leaving no room for scientific data. Mission on hold as RIAA lawyers arrive on Mars to serve their lawsuit.

Feb. 2009 -- Rover's onboard programs constantly interrupted by animated Paper Clip that chirps, "It looks like you're exploring another planet! Would you like help?"

Feb. 2011 -- Design error results in banner ad covering lens of panoramic camera.

Feb. 2014 -- Rover opened attachment to e-mail "hi" that appeared to come from NASA, but was actually MyDoom18 virus. Virus then e-mailed itself to all other Rovers in address book.

Feb. 2016 -- Rover's wheels calculated distance in metric units, but its sensors used English units, resulting in Rover gutting itself on a pointy rock. (Oh sure, like something that ridiculous would happen.)

Feb. 2017 -- Rover's identity has been stolen, leaving NASA sending commands to Romanian teenager's Webcam.

Feb. 2021 -- RealPlayer installed on Rover keeps grabbing control of file formats used by JPL to communicate; "buffering" state has lasted since Day 2 of mission.

Feb. 2023 -- Rover didn't download latest Windows security patch and is now most-distant spam relay server known to scientists.
